This year we wanted to book a few little weekends away in Australia. One such weekend we recently enjoyed was at Conondale Station, located out the back of Kenilworth. We had actually come across this beautiful home in Jaharn's favourite magazine, Country Style. And couldn’t believe our eyes when we stumbled across it on Airbnb. It was exactly what we needed for our staycation.
Conondale Station is one of the largest, privately owned, working cattle properties on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland in Queensland, Australia. Located on the Mary River, it spans 930 hectares and is home to Maree Duncombe and her herd of over 300 Brahman and Charbray beef cattle.
There are three houses on Conondale Station and Maree has renovated and styled all of these houses including ‘The Cottage’, which is available as a bed and breakfast accommodation for guests to stay in. The cottage is a 60 year old house that was relocated from Brisbane to Conondale approximately 40 years ago. It is perched high on an exclusive hill with breathtaking, uninterrupted views of the Conondale Valley. Located four kilometres off the Maleny Kenilworth Highway, the cottage is clearly perfect for couples as well as small families and groups.
Breakfast provisions are provided for the first morning of your stay; bakery bread, farm eggs, milk, butter, jam, herbs from the garden, tea and coffee. Wine, cheese platters and a selection of red meat with organic vegetables are also available at an additional cost with all products sourced by local producers. It truly is the ultimate country escape.
The cottage is available to stay in throughout the year with a minimum two night booking on weekends (Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday) with one night stays offered during the week. Peak rates do apply depending on seasonal demand with prices starting at $220 AUD per night. Upon check-in, we settled in for two nights, cooked delicious food, enjoyed the fireplace, listened to music, slept in, and fell madly in love with the house. Without a doubt, we’ll be going back.
