I am so happy to be able to finally share our exciting news - we are designing an outdoor kitchen on our front deck! We built our house four years ago and over time, we've really understood how we want to utilise the areas inside and outside our house. It's comes as no surprise we love cooking and entertaining, and we're really excited to be able to create an outdoor space where we can cook and lounge together as a family.
We have two decks hugging our open planning kitchen, dining area and living room. Our plan when we designed our home was to open the sliding doors on both decks and integrate the inside with the outdoors. Depending on how we use the space, we simply open or close the sliding doors to create more or less space. There has been a few iterations to our front deck since we first moved in. Initially we had an outdoor setting on the front deck, but we moved it to the back deck. Then we bought an outdoor dining table, bench seat and chairs to put on the front deck, but after we had our garden designed and built, we decided to move the outdoor furniture to the fire pit and place the dining setting on the back deck. Which means, our front deck has been an empty space for a long while. The kids absolutely love the front deck and they enjoy being able to play with their toys, but there is only so many times you can look at bikes, soccer balls, building blocks and scooters without thinking, do the kids own this house?!
We'll be revealing more soon but we will be designing an outdoor kitchen and lounge area. It'll feature a mix of old and new, and a few DIY projects of course. We've been busy:
I am really excited to bring you on this journey with us and I'll be saving every post in this series under "Outdoor Kitchen" in the Lifestyle menu so there's one central location for you to keep up with everything that'll be happening. It's going to be a lot of fun, and I'm excited to get stuck into it all and start revealing what we have been up to. As I'll be DIY'ing a few projects along the way, we are definitely going to need your help. And I can't wait till it's finished because it means I'll be able to enjoy cooking outdoors and enjoy the lovely view from our new lounge area. Stay tuned for more updates!
